Eastern Institute of Technology Awards of Excellence.

In 1989 Past President Brian Neilson suggested an annual scholarship to encourage deserving local tertiary students to continue their study. The club decided to institute two Awards of Excellence to be presented annually to two students of the Eastern Institute of Technology, Taradale, who are returning for continuing study. The Awards were valued at $500 each until 2009 when it was raised to $750 each.

Until 1996, one of the awards went to a student from the School of Nursing. After that, Directors requested the awards be selected  from the 5 faculties on a rotating cycle.

2005 Awards at the meeting, April 2005. John Aikman (President), Chris Collins (EIT CEO), Alison Armstrong, Karen Vickery, Grant Roberts (Brigato scholar) and Tim Anderson (TRC)
